FAQ

Are ORCA outdoor lights Dark Sky compliant?

Yes. ORCA's Block Sconce and Pendulum Down Light are Dark Sky compliant. Both fixtures are designed to direct light downward, minimizing light pollution and glare. They are appropriate for use in areas with Dark Sky ordinances or for homeowners who value responsible outdoor lighting practices.

How should I clean and maintain ORCA outdoor lighting?

Our outdoor lighting is best maintained with gentle cleaning using a soft cloth and mild soap and water, avoiding abrasive pads or harsh chemicals that can damage finishes. Periodically removing dust and debris from lenses and shades will help keep light levels consistent and preserve the intended look of each fixture over time.

What voltage do ORCA outdoor lights use?

All ORCA outdoor lighting fixtures are low voltage, operating on a 10-15V input. They must be connected to a compatible low voltage transformer for proper outdoor installation. Low voltage systems are safer, more energy-efficient, and easier to install than line-voltage systems.

Will ORCA outdoor lights patina or change appearance over time?

Yes, ORCA's copper, brass, and nickel finishes are natural metals that develop an oxidized patina with outdoor exposure. Copper deepens to a warm brown and eventually a verdigris tone. Nickel develops subtle tonal variation. This evolution is a core part of ORCA's material philosophy: products are designed to become more beautiful with use and time.

What kind of bulbs or light sources do ORCA fixtures use?

Fixture requirements vary by design. Many ORCA fixtures are compatible with standard LED lamps, while some pieces integrate specific light sources for a particular effect. Review the product documentation for socket type, maximum wattage, and color temperature guidance.
