Living Finish Material Guide
Our materials are living and intended to evolve when exposed to the elements.
01 Brass
A warm metal that deepens in color over time. With air, salt, and the natural oils from human touch, a rich bronze patina develops.
02 Blackened Brass
Blackened Brass begins as a deep, darkened surface and slowly develops verdigris over time, shifting toward soft blue-green tones with exposure to air, moisture, and use.
03 Flat Stock Steel
A raw metal designed to weather naturally. Flat stock will fade over time to deep rust color. Its rust tone is a deep rich dark brown with accents of purple and isn’t intended for high-traffic areas.
04 Stainless Steel
Our stainless steel is worn to create a tumbled finish that feels elemental in the outdoors. Stainless steel will hold its silver tone while developing subtle surface marks and a natural patina when exposed to the elements.
05 Corten Steel
Though it starts black, this steel will patina to a light rust tone with time. This self-sealing living finish won't rust through making it great for high-traffic areas. You can expedite the rust process by using white vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, and salt.
06 Copper
Copper is a corrosion-resistant metal that will develop an oxidized patina when exposed to the elements including human touch. If a brighter, more uniform finish is preferred, the copper can be polished and returned to its original state.
07 Nickel
A cool-toned metal that will develop character outdoors. Nickel ages slowly, shifting from a polished silver tone to a softer, more muted finish. This natural change is part of the material’s beauty.
Cleaning care
Clean with mild soap and water as needed. Avoid power washing or using any harsh cleaners that may strip the finish.
